Pondo sa Dep’t of Water Resources oks sa Kamara

Manila, Philippines – Aprub na sa House Committee on Appropriations na pondohan ang pagtatalaga ng Department of Water Resources (DWR) at ng Water Regulatory Commission.

“The legislative intent of the creation of the Department of Water Resources is to ensure safe, adequate and continuous water supply for our people and ensure good governance and effective regulation of the water service,” pahayag ni Batangas Representative Marvey Mariño, sponsor ng naturang panukala.

“[It will] approximate a balance between consumer satisfaction and reasonable return on investment on the part of the water service providers and ensure sound and efficient management of the sector by establishing a national framework of water resource management,” dagdag ni Mariño.

Ang DWR ang mangangasiwa ng komprehensibo at mahalagang pagpaplano, magbabalangkas ng polisiya, mamumuno, magmamay-ari, pagbutihin, at proteksyon ng pinagkukunan ng tubig ng bansa.

Lahad ni Mariño, maglalaan ng P2 bilyon sa DWR na kasama ang mga ahensya ng:

  • National Water Resource Board,

  • River Basin Control Office,

  • Water Supply Sanitation Unit of the DILG,

  • Water Quality Management Section of the EMB,

  • Bureau of Soils and Water Management of the DA, and

  • Manila Bay Coordinating Office.

Kung maisabatas, isasailalim sa DWR ang:

  • Local Water Utilities Administration

  • Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System

  • National Irrigation Administration

  • Laguna Lake Development Authority

Samantala ang Water Regulatory Commission ay maglalaan ng P300 milyon na nasa ilalim din ng DWR. ELM/Meliza Maluntag
