Ban ng mga bata sa combat sports pinigil

Tumutol sa House Bill No. 1526 o pagba-ban sa mga menor de edad mula sa full-contact competitive sports ang ilang National Sports Associations.

Lumagda sila sa isang joint-position paper para pigilan ang House Bill No. 1526, o “An Act Banning Minors from Full-Contact Competitive Sports,” na inihain nina Ako Bicol Reps. Alfredo Garbin Jr. at Elizaldy Co.

Pumirma sa pagkontra sina Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri ng arnis, Ormoc Mayor Richard Gomez ng fencing at modern pentathlon, Pearl Managuelod ng muaythai, Atty. Wharton Chan ng kickboxing, Richard Anthony Lim ng karate, L. Pietro Paolo Claudio ng sambo at Edgar Genaro Picson ng boxing.

Gayundin sina Alvin Aguilar ng wrestling, Raul Samson ng taekwondo, Julian Camacho ng wushu, David Carter ng judo, Ferdinand Agustin ng jiu jitsu at Princess Jacel Kiram ng pencak silat.

“In summary, we urge our honorable lawmakers to consider the preceding information in their deliberations on this bill. We hope that the impact such a bill could make on our respective sports development would be taken to mind before any decisions are made,” ayon sa dokumento.

Nakasaad pa, “Lastly, we call on the continued support of our athletes, coaches, and sports stakeholders. Let us be united in upholding the fundamental principles of Olympism, and as stated in the Olympic Charter- to contribute to building a peaceful and better world by educating youth through sport practiced without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity, and fair play.” (Janiel Abby Toralba)
