MANILA, May 10 (PNA) — The Makati Business Club (MBC) has commended the Commission on Elections for its highly credible, clean, and honest management of the 2016 National Elections.

Despite some glitches in logistical preparation and vote counting machines, MBC said this year’s polls improved since the Philippines adopt automated elections in 2010.

“The Commission on Elections deserves much appreciation for its management of a process, seen by many as highly credible, clean, and honest,” the business groups said.

“Indeed, automation is the way forward given the improvements since 2010, and the refreshing practice of losing candidates conceding early to the apparent winners, demonstrating dignity in the face of defeat, and the apparent winners showing humility in victory, should be commended,” it added.

MBC noted that the business community will stand ready to be an active and participative partner of the government to ensure sustainable and inclusive growth.

“It is our hope that the 2016 elections bring forth a country grounded on the principles of protecting and strengthening our democratic institutions, and on decency, integrity, justice, empathy, competence, peace and order especially in Mindanao, and respect for the rule of law,” MBC added. (PNA)
