BACOLOD CITY, Feb. 15 — Thirty department and division heads of the Negros Occidental provincial government led by Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. underwent a three-day workshop on strategic thinking process over the weekend.

Held at La Vista Highlands Mountain Resort in San Carlos City, the workshop was conducted by Ho Sun Yee, the Singaporean managing partner of Decision Processes International (DPI).

Sun Yee studied at the Philippine Military Academy under a Singapore government scholarship and graduated in 1978 at the top of his class.

A most sought-after speaker on strategic thinking, he has also worked with top executives of big companies in China, Indonesia, Thailand, malaysia and Hongkong.

Sun Yee lectured on the critical thinking processes that transform how organizations conduct their business, and also discussed the difference between strategic planning and strategic thinking supported by concrete and tangible outcomes anchored on Singapore’s modern economy.

He also stressed that the success of every business or government depends on its leaders, how they pick potential opportunities, and how they realign these opportunities with strength.

The workshop focused on identifying key concepts using DPI’s Strategic Thinking Process in formulating distinctive strategy, developing a deeper appreciation of the organization’s direction, and increasing understanding on the critical factors to the timely and effective deployment of a new strategy that will lead to the creation of more economic opportunities.

Marañon thanked Sun Yee for sharing his extraordinary insights.

The provincial government can use these in the formulation of a new strategy that will help improve not only the province but also the entire Negros Island, the governor said. (PNA)
