KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 22 — Nokia has appointed Nicholas Bouverot, currently head of Japan at Alcatel-Lucent, as head of Asia South, as part of the planned combination of Nokia and Alcatel-Lucent.

In a statement Tuesday, Nokia said, Bouverot will manage and oversee the combined company's customer operations across Asia South which included Bangladesh, Brunei, Malaysia, Maldives, Philippines, Singapore and Sri Lanka.

"Bouverot will implement the execution of strategy and enhance the business relationship with customers, supported by the strategic focus on innovation and quality," it said.

Nokia said the proposed appointment will be effective after the successful closing of the public exchange offer for Alcatel-Lucent shares announced on April 15 this year and was subjected to the completion of the relevant works council consultation procedures.

Head of Asia Pacific and Japan at Nokia, Paul Tyler, said Bouverot has strong track record and extensive experience in driving best-in-class customer solutions across the market unit.

"I look forward to working with him as we continue to drive the business momentum in the market unit," he said.

The appointment of Bouverot followed the announcement of the planned senior leadership team and organisational structure for the combined Nokia and Alcatel-Lucent on Oct. 7, 2015, he said. (PNA/Bernama)
