Php20-M evacuation center in Oton, Iloilo now completed

ILOILO CITY, Dec. 16 – The construction of the Php20 million evacuation center in Oton, Iloilo is now completed.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development and the recipient local government unit shelled out Php10 million each for the project.

Social Officer V. Rose Sanagustin of DSWD-6 said that the evacuation center was constructed in Oton, Iloilo due to its strategic location.

It can accommodate evacuees from nearby Iloilo City as well as those coming from Tigbauan and Guimbal towns when necessary.

The evacuation center is a three-storey concrete building with a floor area of 1,000 square meters. It can accommodate around 600 evacuees.

The center also has provided a couples’ room and a breast feeding room.

The center will be inaugurated on Dec. 17. (PNA)
