DENR-EMB 6 aims to raise public’s awareness on environmental protection

ILOILO CITY, Nov.10 — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) 6 aims to raise public’s awareness on environmental protection.

DENR-EMB 6 led the celebration of the National Environmental Awareness Month in Iloilo City, Monday.

DENR-EMB 6 chief of the Environmental Education and Information Rabbie Chris Carvajal said that hope to increase the awareness of the public on environmental protection.

“We encourage them to do something because environmental protection is a shared responsibility that requires partnership between the government and the community,” Carvajal said

“That is why we need to unite to achieve a clean and healthy environment,” he added.

An extemporaneous speech contest for public secondary schools students was held on Monday wherein 10 schools from the division of Iloilo City participated in the contest.

A secondary student from SPED-Integrated School for Exceptional Children (SPED-ISEC) won first place in the said contest.

DENR-EMB also launched the new public information campaign dubbed as “Perwisyong Usok Pigilan” in connection to the celebration of the Philippine Clean Air Month.

An environmental musical show performed by the Iloilo Prima Galaw was presented at SM City Iloilo.

Meanwhile, 500 mangroves will be planted in the municipality of Leganes on Friday to be participated by 100 participants from the National Government Agencies (NGAs) and Metro Iloilo Airshed in celebration of the Climate Change Consciousness Week. (PNA)
