MANILA, March 26 — The Philippine National Police (PNP) is alerting the public against con artists introducing themselves as police officers to facilitate transactions in government offices, PNP spokesperson Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo said on Thursday.

Cerbo said that a certain Police Chief Insp. Princess Domingo, a.k.a. Patricia Domingo, and a certain Police Supt. Grace Perez are introducing themselves as under the authority of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the PNP and soliciting money to facilitate government transactions.

He explained that records available at the Records Management Division of the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management indicate that the two individuals do not appear in the roster of the PNP.

"The Philippine National Police strongly denies that they are members of the organization," Cerbo said.

He warned that any person who shall falsely misrepresent himself or herself to be an officer, agent or representative of any department or agency of the Philippine government shall be liable under the Revised Penal Code.

Further, any person facilitating speedy completion of transactions for financial consideration shall be penalized under Republic Act No. 9485 or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007, Cerbo said. (PNA)
