CIDG nabs 7 suspects, seizes firearms, shabu

MANILA, Feb. 24 (PNA) — Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Northern Luzon detectives arrested seven suspects and seized firearms and shabu during operations launched from February 23 – 24, CIDG Chief Police Director Benjamin Magalong said on Tuesday.

Magalong said that CIDG Region 1 detectives successfully arrested spouses, Jabar and Asnaima Masurong in Bacnotan, La Union for the illegal possession of 10 plastic sheets of shabu, a hand grenade, homemade pistol, a calibre 38 revolver, assorted ammunition and drug paraphernalia.

In another operation conducted in Barangay Umando, Malasiqui, Pangasinan, two suspects identified as Marilou Rendon and Arturo Boquiren were captured by CIDG Region 1 operatives armed with search warrants for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

A warrant of arrest issued by Judge Manuel Aquino of RTC Branch 34 of Balaoan, La Union was served against Robert Maala who was charged with murder.

Meanwhile, the CIDG detectives under the direct supervision of Sr. Supt. Froilan Perez arrested two persons who were identified as Danilo Delfin and Edwardson Mabbagu.

Mabbagu was arrested because of the violation of RA 9262 (Violence against Women and their Children) in his residence located in Balzain, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan while Madriaga was arrested for violation of the Forestry Code (PD 705) in Barangay Zamora, Cabarroguis, Quirino on the strength of a Warrant of Arrest issued by Judge Bonifacio Ong of RTC, Branch 24, Echague, Isabela.

These arrests of criminals proved the strong dedication of CIDG detectives in their mission to enforce the law, prevent and control crimes, maintaining peace and order and ensuring public safety and internal security with the active support of the community, magalong said.
