PHNOM PENH, Feb. 24 — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said on Tuesday that the country is projected to receive about 5 million international visitors this year, up by 11 percent from 4.5 million last year.

"According to a forecast, international tourists to cambodia will reach 5 million in 2015," he said during the celebration of the National Day for Clean Cities.

Last year, the Southeast Asian country attracted 4.5 million foreign tourists, generating a total revenue of more than USD3 billion, he said.

"Tourism has contributed to sustaining economic growth, creating jobs and reducing people's poverty," the prime minister said. "The government sees tourism as 'green gold' and the development of Cambodia's tourism focuses mainly on the potential of cultural and ecological resources."
