CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Feb. 17 — The city would begin expropriation proceedings of a lot to allow about 300 residents in Lapasan an unhindered passage here, a city councilor said Tuesday.

City Councilor Alex Dacer, chair of the city committee on subdivision and landed estate, said that the committee decided to conduct expropriation proceedings after the negotiation with the lot owners failed.

He said that the residents in the San Miguel, a small village in Lapasan, east of the city, has sought the intercession of the city government after the Mindanao Health Care Corporation, the lot owner, closed and quarried the road where residents passes through during the last 30 years.

Dacer said that the city government and the corporate lawyers of the Mindanao Health Care had sat down to negotiate the road right of way for the more than 200 residents in the area.

The city government pleaded for the residents to be allowed to use a small portion of the lot so that people living in the area would enjoy an unhampered access to and fro their residences to no avail, Dacer said.

He said that the city council was left with no option but expropriate the area through an approved City Ordinance, which was subsequently signed by the City Mayor. (PNA)
