North Cotabato bloodletting nets 137 bags of blood for Red Cross

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Jan. 21 – A joint blood-letting activity by North Cotabato provincial government and Philippine National Red Cross in Tulunan, North Cotabato Wednesday yielded 137 bags of blood, authorities said Wednesday.

A total of 137 bags of blood were collected from donors in Barangay Bual, Tulunan, North Cotabato, according to Jess Enid, focal of North Cotabato provincial hospital.

Enid said first to donate blood were village officials of Bual, led by chairperson Bonbon Palomo and volunteers that included teachers, students, soldiers, police and ordinary farmers.

The blood-letting activity aims to ensure buffer stocks of blood for emergency cases.

“Malaking tulong ang mga dugong nalikom at inaasahan naming makaliligtas ito ng maraming buhay (These blood donated by our people will be of great help for those in need so we save lives),” said Enid.

Participating in the blood donation activity were personnel and staff of Fr. Tulio Favali Hospital in Tulunan, led by Chief of Hospital Dr. Sabino Marasigan, M’lang District Hospital led by Chief of Hospital Dr. Chedita Briones at Dr. Eva Rabaya, North Cotabato provincial health chief.

Red Cross chapter chairperson Bai Fatima Sinsuat and North Cotabato Red Cross coordinator Bryan Balmediano, lauded the blood doors and the provincial government for the activity.

North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Mendoza also lauded the activity since it will ensure ample supply of blood needed by persons in difficult medical situation and during emergency cases. (PNA)
