BUTUAN CITY, Dec 16 — The Diocese of Butuan City gears up for the coming visit of the holy father of the church this January.

”We have informed all throughout the corners of this diocese to prepare themselves for the coming visit of the holy father to the country on January,” said Butuan Diocese Bishop Juan De Dios M. Pueblos in a local radio interview on Tuesday morning.

Bishop De Dios Pueblos said that the preparation can be done by self preparations in prayer, humility and helping those in need particularly the poor.

”Give action to your faith as lived by the holy Pope,” Bishop De Dios Pueblos made his call. He also said that hopefully, the visit of the Pope to the country will bring many good things for the Filipinos, peace and more progress for the country.

He said that among the good virtues lived by the holy Pope, which all the faithful shall emulate, is the humility, the generosity and the heart for the poor and the needy. The bishop said that the pope spend for his own fare to public transportation whenever he travels and refuse to use the “Pope Mobile”, buy his own needs at the stores and cooks his own meals.

”He is modeling the Christ-like life by his simple living,” Bishop De Dios Pueblos said. “If we live such a simple life, then we have no corruption, no illegal activities and the other big things we are presently facing now,” the Bishop said.

Caraga will be having a delegation of about 100 priests and lay faithful who will be among those who will meet the holy Pope in Manila, to be headed by the Bishop. Then they will be among the advance party for the Pope on his visit to Tacloban City. (PNA)
