300 cyclists to join racing across Vietnam

HANOI, Nov. 25 — As many as 300 cyclists are taking part in a bike racing tournament across Vietnam during Dec. 2-16, said organizer on Tuesday.

Editor-in-Chief of People's Army Newspaper Pham Van Huan, head of the organizing committee of the event said told a press conference in Hanoi that 15 domestic teams and two foreign teams from cambodia and Laos had registered to compete in the tournament.

During the Trans-Vietnam cycling tournament for national defense cup, cyclists will race the longest route ever in Vietnam along the country with total length of the route estimated at 1,292 km.

Cyclists are set to depart from southernmost Ca Mau province on Dec. 2 and arrive at the northernmost Cao Bang province on Dec. 16, the paper said on its website.

The race is among activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army and the 25th National Defense Day. (PNA/Xinhua)
