Vietnam Airlines launches extra flights during Tet holiday

HO CHI MINH CITY, Oct. 13 — Vietnam Airlines will launch 1,200 extra flights on domestic and international routes during the Tet or Lunar New Year peak season from Jan. 28 to March 18 next year.

The HCM City-Hanoi route will have an additional 260 flights and HCM City-Da Nang route an extra 340 flights, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reports quoting the Saigon Times Daily.

Other local destinations will have increased flights during this period, including from HCM City to Vinh, Hai Phong, Quy Nhon, Cam Ranh and Hue, and from Hanoi to Cam Ranh, Da Nang, Phu Quoc and Vinh.

Around 36 flights will service international routes connecting Vietnam and Taiwan's Taipei, Kaohsiung and Taichung, Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong, among others.

The airline expects to have 18,900 flights, up 12 percent compared to usual days during the Tet holiday.

Officials said the carrier will continue to gauge demand and assess resources to add more flights if necessary.

VietJetAir and Jetstar Pacific are also planning to provide more flights during the new year holidays. (PNA/Bernama)
