MANILA, Jan. 9 — The government’s weather agency continued warning against sailing in waters off Northern Luzon, expecting rough to very rough sea conditions with waves 3.4 meters to 4.5 m high from strong to gale force winds associated with the northeast monsoon.

”Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 5:00 a.m. gale warning issued Thursday (Jan. 9).

PAGASA expects 52 kph to 63 kph winds in Northern Luzon’s seaboards covering Calayan and Babuyan islands, Batanes province as well as the northern coast of Cagayan and Ilocos Norte provinces.

The agency forecast for these areas partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains. (PNA)
