MANILA, August 30 — An official of the Association of Major Religious Superiors of the Philippines does not support the idea of Janet Lim-Napoles being a state witness in the P10 billion Priority Development Assistance Fund fund scam.

“I’m glad that she surrendered. But excuse me. I don’t want her to be a state witness. She does not deserve immunity,” said Sr. Mary John Mananzan, AMRSP, co-chairperson, in an article posted on the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines news website.

She said Napoles must face trial so that the government can go after those who are also involved in the fund scam.

Napoles is being tagged as the mastermind of the pork barrel scam, wherein several lawmakers are being accused of funneling their fund to finance ghost projects through her fake non-government organizations.

On the other hand, Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo urged the public not to forget about issue of the abolition of the pork barrel and not to focus on Napoles.

“The real issue here is not about Napoles but about the pork barrel and the lawmakers who are traitors of the country,” he said.
