CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, July 18 -– The City Council on Monday urged City Mayor Oscar Moreno to convene the city peace and order council to map out crime prevention measures in this premier capital city of Northern Mindanao.

In a Resolution No. 11433-2013 passed during the regular session Monday, the City Council informed the City Mayor of the Executive Order No. 397, s. 1987 and Section 116 of the Local Government Code on the convening of the City Peace and Order Council to tackle issues concerning peace and order in the community.

City Councilor Ramon Tabor, Chair of the City Council’s Committee on Police, Fire, and Public Safety has proposed the creation of Task Force Cagayan de Oro which will monitor and react to any emergency in the city.

Tabor made the proposal saying that robbery incidents occurred in the city three to four times in broad daylight.

“As the city continues to grow, we need the concerted effort of the citizenry to strengthen the city’s peace and order drive,” Tabor said.

Vice Mayor Ian Acenas, chair of the City Council, said that Tabor sponsored the passage of the resolution by the City Council to pursue the creation of the Task Force which would be chaired by the City Mayor through the peace and order council. (PNA)
