DepEd fills up 90.79% of new teaching items

MANILA, July 11 — The Department of Education (DepEd) announced on Thursday that 55,848 (90.79 percent) new teacher items have been filled up.

There are 61,510 new teacher items that needs to be filled up.

DepEd worked closely with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) that resulted to reducing the hiring process to five months instead of the usual eight months.

DepEd also announced that some divisions and regions were able to fill up more than half of their new teaching positions in only three months.

Since 2010, there have been 102,603 new teaching positions, 91 percent of which were occupied by new hires. (PNA)
