44th season Illumination of BP opens in August

MANILA, May 31 — Performing timeless stories starting August, The Ballet Philippines announced Friday the production of its 44th season Illumination.

BP is set to perform Giselle on Aug. 16-18, a Romantic ballet role first performed by Carlotta Grisi, an Italian ballerina on June 1841.

The story tells about the love of Giselle for her lover Loys that transcends even through death.

The life of Andres Bonifacio will be performed on Sept 20 to 22, and Sept 27 to 29, as a ballet performance titled Rock Supremo.

It seeks to inculcate the insight and perspective of the national hero to the contemporary audience.

The classic story of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is set on November 29 to Dec. 8.

The story of grumpy Scrooge and the Ghost of Christmas past, present and future will be the Christmas offering of BP to the Filipinos, officials said. (PNA)
