CEBU CITY, May 25 — A total of 1,178 members of the board of election inspectors (BEIs) in five towns and two cities in Cebu are still unpaid of their honoraria of P4,000 each.

But they might receive their P4,000 honoraria in cash next week, election officials said.

These BEIs are in the towns of Badian (114 BEIs), Asturias (138), Dumanjug (153), Catmon (78) and Sibonga (17) and the cities of Carcar (209) and Toledo (369).

Cebu Provincial Election Supervisor Eddie Aba said he has submitted the list to Finance Services Department Director 4 Eduardo Mejos of Comelec Manila last Tuesday.

According to Aba, Mejos said the BEIs who have yet to receive their honoraria for serving in the May 13 elections will receive cash.

Cebu Provincial Comelec election assistant Arthur Patiga said the 1,178 BEIs will get cash through their election officers.

The election officer has a “second ATM” where Landbank will deposit the honoraria of the BEIs of the LGUs mentioned.

Patiga said it will take time if the BEIs wait for their cash cards, so the election officer will make a payroll and distribute the money to the BEIs.

The election officers will serve as a special disbursing officer.(PNA)
