Pacquiao is richest congressman, Speaker is third

MANILA, May 23 — Philippine boxing icon and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao is the richest lawmaker in the House of Representatives while Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. is at third based on the summary report of filed statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALNs) for calendar year 2012 by House members of the 15th Congress.

According to the report, Pacquiao’s SALN reflected a total net worth of P 1,770,556,772 – P2,028,566,772 of total assets against P558 million in listed liabilities.

Belmonte is third on the list with a net worth of P817,574,180.

His total assets was listed at P819,884,152 with a total of 2,309,971 in liabilities.

Meanwhile, the poorest is Anakpawis Party-list Rep. Rafael Mariano with a total net worth of P92,507.

Rounding up the top ten richest lawmakers in the House are:

4. Alfredo B. Benitez (Negros Oriental, 3rd Dist.) — P702,065,517;

5. Julio A. Ledesma IV (Negros Oriental, 1st Dist.) — P590,557,605;

6. Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez (Leyte, 1st Dist.) — P474,181,702;

7. Mark A. Villar (Las Piñas) — P361,782,107;

8. Augusto D. Syjuco (Iloilo) — P301,576,151;

9. Enrique M. Cojuangco (Tarlac) — P214,837,597; and

10. Joel Roy R. Duavit (Rizal) — P195,924,487.

Former President and now Pampanga (2nd Dist.) Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is ranked 20th with a net worth of P120,513,236.
