Coaches, athletes and sports educators to attend 2nd PHASES Conference

MANILA, May 23 — The Philippine Association for Sport and Exercise Science (PHASES) conducts its 2nd Conference from May 23-25 at the University of Santo Tomas (UST).

PHASES is a non-government, non-profit, non-stock institution that carries out strategic plans for the advancement of sport and exercise sciences in the Philippines.

With the theme, “Advances and Innovations in Sports and Exercise Science”, the conference aims to present and disseminate recent advances and research findings in the field of sport and exercise science.

“Our presenters are going to share the current trends and trainings that will be helpful to coaches in their administration of their training programs. They will better understand what they do to their athletes.”,Jeffrey Pagaduan, president of the PHASES said to an interview.

Topics that will be discussed in the conference include Updates on Sports Rehabilitation, Youth Athlete Development, Influence of Overseas Filipinos in Promoting Philippine Football, and Sports Science Competencies.

There will also be symposia on Core Training, Sports Psychology, Athlete Management, Coaching Efficacy, Injury and Management Strategies for Athletes, and Alternative Pain Management.

PHASES Conference 2013 will also conduct workshops on High Intensity Training, Therapeutic Taping, Essentials in Running, Speed Agility, Quickness, Training for Running, and Functional Screening.

Hon. Jose Luis Gomez, commissioner of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) graced the opening of the event.

Registered coaches, professionals, students, and athletes from different schools from different parts of the Philippines and other countries will attend the 3-day conference.(PNA)
