ILOILO CITY, May 7 — The Oton Fire Station has conducted hazard mapping and terrain familiarization last week of April in three areas in Oton, a town adjoining the district of Arevalo in this city.

Oton Municipal Fire Marshal SFO3 Roberto Tamayo Jr. said these areas include a prominent subdivision in Barangay Buray; Buray Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association Village; and the Florville Subdivision and University of the Philippines Village in the municipality.

Tamayo said the hazard mapping done by the town’s firefighters include identification, inspection and testing of fire hydrants in strategic places in the three housing villages.

Fire hazard mapping is done purposely for efficient fire management such as estimating the spread of fire and not losing precious time in getting into the burning area.

Tamayo said the fire bureau aims to conduct the fire management scheme to cover all barangays in Oton. (PNA)
