Kris Aquino not supporting any UNA senatorial bet

GENERAL SANTOS CITY, May 2 – Presidential sister and actress Kris Aquino clarified on Wednesday that her support to Binay family is only for Makati City mayoralty candidate Jejomar Erwin Binay and not for Nancy Binay who is running for senator under opposition United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).

”JunJun Binay is my very good friend. I campaigned for him as mayor because nobody from Team PNoy ran for mayor in Makati,” Aquino said in a press conference after joining a motorcade of Team PNoy senatorial candidates Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero and Grace Poe here.

When asked if her support is for Makati only, the youngest sister of President Benigno Aquino III answered “yes, only for Makati.”

The popular TV host, however, clarified that Nancy Binay whom she fondly called ‘An-an’ is one of her closest friends.

”I know the follow up question already. Out of respect for my brother I won’t answer that and in the interest of telling the truth, I also won’t answer that,” she said.

Kris Aquino lived up to her promise to personally campaign for Escudero and Poe as she joined the two Team PNoy senatorial bets in motorcade, local radio interviews here and in Davao City.

”We will campaign together not for the whole day today but from 3a.m. until midnight tonight because we left Manila at 3 a.m. and we will return at 12 midnight tonight,” she told the local and national media.

Aside from Escudero and Poe, Kris Aquino said she is also campaigning for Team PNoy’s other bets Alan Peter Cayetano, Sonny Angara and cousin Bam Aquino.

”If there are other more, I’d rather not name them,” she said.

Kris Aquino refused to comment when asked if she is supporting the 12-0 target of Team PNoy campaign manager Senator Franklin Drilon.

”Sorry I will not answer that because I don’t have to lie,” Aquino replied.

She has also been also asked if her plan to quit showbiz has something to do with her plan to seek higher position in the 2016 elections.

”About politics, I have to bring in more tourists first here so that I will have achievement if I decide to run,” Kris Aquino answered.

Aquino’s statement drew applause from local media as well as from General Santos City mayor Darlene Antonino-Custodio who joined them in the press conference. (PNA)
