CEBU CITY, April 18 — President Benigno S. Aquino III is expected to visit Cebu on Friday to proclaim local candidates of the Liberal Party (LP) and to lead the inauguration of the new P250-million City Hall of Bogo City in northern Cebu.

Bogo City Mayor Celestino Martinez Jr. said President Aquino will inaugurate their new city hall situated in the city’s new business district at 8:00 a.m.

He said the new city hall complex is expected to draw more investments to the city’s new business district, some 100 kilometers north of Cebu City.

He said the President will proclaim all the LP candidates in Cebu’s fourth district in a rally in Bogo City at 9:00 a.m.

President Aquino will also join the rally of the Bando Osmena Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK), an LP ally in Cebu, in front of the Cebu Capitol on Escario St., Cebu City at 5:00 p.m.

BOPK is headed by Rep. Tomas Osmena (Cebu City, south district), who is running for Cebu City mayor against incumbent Mayor Michael Rama.

LP senatorial candidates and local candidates from all over Cebu are also expected to attend the rally.

Lawyer Rafael Yap, City Integrated Traffic Operations Management (Citom) chief, said Osmeña Blvd., particularly the area from the corner of Coco Mall to Capitol, will be closed, as well as a portion of Escario St., from Juana Osmeña St. all the way to M. Velez St., from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Yap said the roads will be closed as early as 1:00 p.m. for the arrival of participants from the different parts of the province even if the rally will start at 5:00 p.m. yet. (PNA)
