ILOILO CITY, April 11 – Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. together with the other local candidates of the Liberal Party (LP) here in the province have vowed their support to the administration of Pres. Benigno Aquino III.

Gov. Defensor, who was endorsed by the President in Passi and Sta. Barbara towns Wednesday during the twin local political rallies said “ Mr. President believe in us to extend full support in your Matuwid Na Daan.”

The governor further said the president’s father the late Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino “gave us courage against the regime of dictatorship” and that his mother the late Pres. Corazon Aquino has restored democracy into the country, but the president gave true substance.

“The president restored the people’s faith in governance. He made us believe that clean and transparent government in the Philippines could be had,” Defensor, who had worked hard on the side of the Aquinos during the 1986 snap election, said.

Defensor added that his political campaign battlecry “Reform and Change” is aligned with Pres. Aquino’s “Matuwid Na Daan.”

Meanwhile, former Iloilo Gov. Niel D. Tupas, Sr., who is the LP provincial chair, said he appreciates the president's gesture to visit Iloilo and endorse the local candidates.

He said the president has really given them importance with his visit.

Tupas is running for Iloilo Fourth District Congressman in the coming May 13 election.

Likewise, Passi City mayoral candidate Aura Landar-Layese said that Pres. Aquino's visit to her hometown is a clear manifestation that she is the LP official candidate as against prior reports that the president will have a talk with her opponent reelectionist Mayor Jesry Palmares to invite him as a candidate.
