ILOILO CITY, April 11 – Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. said Thursday he welcomes the Commission on Elections (Comelec) strict regulation on the posting of campaign posters.

In a press conference, Defensor said he has been instructing his supporters who came asking for his campaign posters to adhere to Comelec rules not to post or nail posters on trees and electric posts beside the roadside and in public places not considered as common poster areas.

“The Comelec could get all the posters that are in violation,” the reelectionist governor said.

He said it would be unfair though for him or other candidates to be charged with a fee for the Comelec removal of the illegally posted posters without even their knowledge or approval.

The governor also told media to inform him if they see his posters in places not allowed by Comelec.(PNA)
