BACOLOD CITY, April 5 — Independent senatorial candidate Edward Hagedorn of Puerto Princesa, Palawan is supporting the proposed extension of the term of governors and mayors from three to five years.

In a press conference here Friday, Hagedorn said the amendment of Local Government Code that provides the term limit will be one of the highlights of his legislative agenda.

Hagedorn said the law should be revised since some of the provisions of the law are already outdated.

He also claimed the three-year term may no longer be responsive to the “present day realities."

Hagedorn also emphasized that he will push for a national land use plan apart from those of the local.

Providing for a national land use plan, according to him, will enable all stakeholders to plan out which area in the country is open for investments and explorations. (PNA)
