Comelec appoints OIC provincial election supervisor for NegOr

DUMAGUETE CITY, Feb. 4 — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has named Atty. Juvenal Tuale as officer-in-charge provincial election supervisor of Negros Oriental vice Atty. Eddie Aba.

Atty. Tuale assumed his post on Monday while Atty. Aba reported to the Comelec office in Cebu.

Earlier, the Comelec had eyed Atty. Jerome Brillantes as the OIC provincial election supervisor of Negros Oriental.

However, the reshuffling of election officers in the province scheduled originally January 21 was suspended.

Atty. Aba explained that Comelec Commissioner Sixto Brillantes had decided not to push ahead with Atty. Brillantes’ appointment as OIC provincial election supervisor of Negros Oriental after it was ascertained that both were somehow related, apart from carrying the same family name.

Also, Atty. Tuale was the most senior lawyer among the election officers in Negros Oriental and has a track record, having been appointed to previous positions, to include being OIC Regional COMELEC director of Region 7.

Atty. Brillantes will still be reporting to the provincial Comelec office and will be handling the operations of the said office.

Atty. Tuale expressed optimism that the upcoming May 13 mid-term polls in the province will be honest, peaceful and orderly. (PNA)
