MANILA, Dec. 19 — The Sandiganbayan Wednesday denied the motion for a Christmas "furlough" of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

In a nine-page resolution of the anti-graft court, it said the justices of the Sandiganbayan were not convinced by the motion of Mrs. Arroyo to allow her to go back home during the Christmas and New Year season.

The camp of the former president had asked the Sandiganbayan to allow her to take a vacation from Dec. 21, 2012 until Jan. 7, 2013.

However, the Sandiganbayan said if the condition of Mrs. Arroyo is delicate, she could not travel to Pampanga or any other place.

Hence, the anti-graft court deemed it proper to dismiss such motion.

The former head of state is currently under "hospital arrest" at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City due to her bone disease. (PNA)
