Magnitude 5.8 quake rocks Davao Del Sur

MANILA, Dec. 10 — A magnitude 5.8 quake rocked Davao Del Sur Monday morning with state seismologists warning of possible aftershocks.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvocs) said the quake was recorded at 5:45 a.m. and was tectonic in origin.

In its initial bulletin, it traced the epicenter to 65 kilometers (km) southeast of Malita, Davao Del Sur at a depth of 32 kilometers.

Phivolcs reported that Intensity 4 was felt in Mati and San Isidro in Davao Oriental; Intensity 3 in General Santos City; Digos City, Manay, Davao Oriental; Tagum, Davao Oriental; Padada, Davao del Sur , and Intensity 2 was recorded in Koronadal, South Cotabato and Matalam, North Cotabato.

The agency said no damages or casualties were reported. (PNA)
