4 more groups allowed to join 2013 polls

MANILA, Dec. 7 — The Commission on Elections Friday released a list of four new groups allowed to run in the May 2013 polls while four others have been disqualified.

The new Party-List groups accredited by the Comelec are 1-Abilidad, Inc. (1-ABILIDAD); Ating Guro (AG); Sanlakas (SANLAKAS); and Anti-War/Anti Terror Mindanano Peace Movement (AWAT MINDANAO).

The number of groups allowed to join the polls next year is 83.

Meanwhile, the following groups have been denied respective applications to be part of the 2013 polls.

They are Isang Kasambay Po Asso. Inc. (1-KASAMBAHAY PO); Aasenso Sa Barangay (ASBI-LAKAN); Ang Alyansa Laban Sa Pang-Aapi Sa May Kapansanan At Pang-Aabuso Sa Likas Na Yaman (ALAY-AKAY); and Urban Poor Development And Services (UPDS).

A total 182 party-list groups that had been disqualified by the commission, 55 of which have cancelled accreditation, and the remaining 127 have denied registration. (PNA)
