(Metro News)Caloocan won't tolerate 'narco-politicians' –Echiverri

MANILA, Nov. 30 — As the nation observed the 149th birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio Friday, Caloocan Mayor Enrico Echiveri said that with the support of the local residents, he will do everything in his power to prevent "narco-politicians” from winning in the coming 2013 elections.

In his message during the celebration, Echiverri said he hopes the people of Caloocan will fight against this kind of immorality and emulate the example of Bonifacio in fighting against such corrupt and abhorrent practice.

"We must always be on our guard so that such persons or individuals will not take power in the city. We must emulate the example of Gat Andres Bonifacio so that injustice and corruption will not prevail in Caloocan," he stressed

The celebration kicked off with a parade at the Bonifacio Monument Circle in Caloocan at around 6 a.m.Participants in the parade were officials and employees of the city government

The program included the singing of the national anthem, ecumenical prayers, oath to the flag, and floral offerings.

Echiverri said another highlight of the program was the unveiling of Bonifacio's 150th anniversary logo.

The nation marks the sesquicentennial or 150th birthday of Bonifacio next year. (PNA)
