90 high school students benefit from YLS seminar

MANILA, Nov. 30 – Ninety high school students, mostly from Lanao del Sur's public schools, benefited from the Youth Leaders Summit (YLS) conducted by the Philippine Army's 51st Infantry Battalion and the Department of Education from Nov. 27 to 29.

The activity had the theme “Building Communities of Peace through Youth Empowerment and Solidarity” and was held at Barangay Talambo, Pualas, Lanao del Sur.

Capt. Alberto Caber, 1st Infantry Division spokesperson, said the YLS conducted by its sub-unit and DepEd aimed to promote and enhance a culture of peace, values orientation, sports skills, leadership qualities and strengthen nationalism among the participants.

He said this was done through a series of workshops and lectures by experts on the above-mentioned subject matters.

Lt. Col. Ceasar Marlon M. Yadao, 51st Infantry Battalion commanding officer, said that the Christian and Muslim participants were from the municipalities of Bacolod-Kalawi, Bayang, Binadayan, Ganassi, Madamba, Madalum, Pagayawan, Pualas and Tubaran. (PNA)
