(Metro News)Tolentino nabs fake MMDA traffic enforcer

November 26, 2012 11:27 pm

MANILA, Nov. 26 — Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino personally nabbed an enforcer for misrepresenting himself as an active personnel of the MMDA traffic force.

Tolentino identified the former traffic aide of MMDA as Edwin M. Vicentino, who was caught on Sunday evening at around 6:30 p.m. in Buendia flyover in Roxas Blvd. as Tolentino was on his way to attend a speaking engagement in Manila.

Vicentino flagged down the Chairman’s vehicle without any clear violation.

“Mr. Vicentino has not been reporting for duty since November last year. He was officially dropped from the rolls as of May 1, 2012. What he did was both illegal and unethical,” Tolentino said.

Vicentino was wearing his MMDA enforcer uniform Type “B” and ID during the incident.

“MMDA is very strict regarding these matters and we do not tolerate such behavior from any of our enforcers or employees. Mr. Vicentino, by posing as a figure of authority with malice is tainting the name of our Agency,” he said.

MMDA will be filing a formal complaint against Vicentino on usurpation of authority.

Tolentino also warned the general public to be aware of enforcers who might try to take advantage of them especially this Christmas season.

“Please do not hesitate to contact us if you run into any corrupt enforcers on the road. We have our MetroSolusyon website especially for that,” Tolentino said.

MMDA’s MetroSolusyon website was designed to encourage citizen participation in the Agency’s active campaign against corruption. Citizens can log in to metrosolusyon.mmda.gov.ph to report complaints or incidents on any matter involving MMDA employees engaging in corrupt practices. Not only that, they can also report citizens caught bribing our MMDA employees, laud or commend a good deed of any MMDA enforcer, or even suggest concrete solutions to pressing problems in Metro Manila.
