MANILA, Oct. 25 — As Metro Manila was placed under storm signal No. 1 due to tropical storm "Ofel," the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority advised on Thursday the billboard operators to voluntary roll down their tarpaulins along major thoroughfares in the metropolis.

“Inabisuhan na natin yung mga billboard operators na ibaba na yung kanilang mga tarpaulins dahil sa malakas na hangin na dala ng bagyong Ofel na nararanasan natin sa Metro Manila,” MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said in a phone interview.

Tolentino said that such tarpaulins should be rolled down to prevent these from causing accidents along the highways should they be ripped away by the storm's strong winds. (PNA)
