MANILA, Oct. 16 — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) launched Tuesday the Mobile Learning Bus Plus in Brgy. San Juan, Cainta, Rizal to give the residents there a chance for a better life through training and learning.

“Nais ng TESDA maging sensitibo sa pangangailangan ng mga tao,” said TESDA Director- General Sec. Joel Villanueva.

The training bus is equipped with tables, chairs, computers and other learning materials needed by 133 scholars under the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) of TESDA.

Villanueva said the program aims to satisfy the needs of booming sectors that include business processing outsourcing (BPO), tourism and construction.

“In the BPO sector, there is already a separate on-going program that is being undertaken by TESDA,” Villanueva pointed out. “There is a high demand for tourism and construction and it is very hard for us to fill up the needs of these industries. For instance, there is a high demand for pipe fitters where 80 to 85 percent of the graduates of TESDA immediately get hired.”

The other courses of the program include Small Engine and Motorcycle Servicing, Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM), Computer Hardware Servicing, Haircutting, Massage Therapy and Community Disaster Management Program.

The Mobile Training Bus is allotted for Region 4-A to train Rizaleños to become skilled workers. The training program lasts for 60 days with classes held every day.

Present in the launch were Brgy Capt. Wilfredo C. Felix, Dir. Velma Salazar, Dir. Luisita Dela Cruz , Vice Mayor Ross Glenn Gongora, Vice Gov. Frisco San Juan Jr., Rep. Joel Roy Duavit, Gov. Nini Ynares and Sec. Joel Villanueva.(PNA)
