Two-hour fire hits Metropoint Mall in Pasay City

MANILA, July 16 — A two-hour fire hit Metropoint Mall in Pasay City on Monday afternoon but no one was injured, the Pasay Fire Station said.

Fire Officer 2 Rustom Tiongson of the Pasay Central Fire Station said the blaze started at the Hapag Kainan Restaurant located on the third floor of the Metropoint Mall located along EDSA-Taft Avenue in Pasay City at about 3:32 p.m., forcing the mall’s management to temporarily close the shopping mall to the public.

Tiongson said while the fire started at chimney of the restaurant, fire probers would still determine the real causes of the fire.

The fire reached the first alarm at 4:40 p.m. but responding firefighters managed to put it under control at about 5:43 p.m.

Tiongson said no casualties were reported in the two-hour long blaze as firefighters managed to contain it within the restaurant area. (PNA)
