KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 — About 1,000 people, among them veteran artistes, joined the "Senamseni Sihat 1Malaysia" exercise-for-health program at the Hiliran Ampang Hardcore Poor Housing Program area Sunday.

The program, organized by the Special Affairs Department and the Veteran Artistes Welfare Association of Malaysia, serves as a medium to foster closer relationship between the government and people.

Jasa director-general Datuk Fuad Hassan said the program, among others, also helped to foster the spirit of neighborliness.

"Other than promoting a healthy lifestyle, it helps to raise awareness and foster the fun of living as good neighbors," he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, program organizing chairman Syed Saifudin Syeh Harman said the program might be organized on a bigger scale based on the overwhelming response from the people.(PNA/Bernama) hbc/jnc
