MANILA, June 11 — Malacanang bared the unprecedented sense of optimism of the Filipinos on President Benigno S. Aquino III saying that such strong approval by the people can be credited to the unyielding commitment of the Aquino government to achieve its goals that are anchored on attaining inclusive growth and restoring public confidence in government institutions.

In his statement during a regular press briefing in Malacanang, Monday, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said that based on the latest Social Weather Station (SWS) survey for the second quarter of 2012, President Aquino still enjoys strong approval for a considerable period of time.

“There has been an unprecedented stretch of public optimism: seven consecutive quarters under President Benigno S. Aquino III. It is in this context that we respond to the findings of the SWS 2nd Quarter Survey. Satisfaction with the President continues to reflect overwhelming overall support: 63 percent satisfied, 21 percent dissatisfied. In most parts of the country, the President enjoys strong majority approval. It is important to note that the net satisfaction rating of the President continues to be the highest since June 1999,” Lacierda said.

He noted the various efforts of the government to implement reforms and the support of the people in these programs focused on sustainable development.

“The President’s policies and programs have focused on restoring public confidence in our institutions, and a government actively working for all sectors in pursuit of inclusive growth. In obtaining widespread national support for his programs, we believe the public sees the efforts being done, and the accomplishments to date,” Lacierda said.

The May 2012 Social Weather Survey was conducted from May 24-27, 2012 using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults in Metro Manila, and the balance of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao (sampling error margins of ±3% for national percentages, ±6% for area percentages).

The area estimates were weighted by the National Statistics Office medium-population projections for 2012 to obtain the national estimates.

In the same survey conducted in November of 2010, President Aquino received an "excellent" +64 net rating. (PNA)
