Male nurse tops 3rd IB's candidate soldier course

MANILA, May 25 – A registered nurse topped the recently concluded six-month candidate soldiers course conducted by the Army's 3rd Infantry Division at Camp General Macario Peralta, Jr. in Jamindan, Capiz.

Marc Henri Fermin, from Barangay Look, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, received the "Commander 3rd Infantry Division Award."

He topped the training with a general average of 90.26 percent in all evaluated subjects — both in academic and non-academic courses.

The training period for Fermin and his 95 other companions took place between Dec. 2, 2011 up to May 16, 2012.

Graduation ceremonies took place last May 24.

Maj. Gen. Jose Mabanta, Jr., 3rd Infantry Division commander, hailed the new soldiers and reminded them of the great responsibilities that come with their enlistment into the regular force of the Armed Forces.

Mabanta said: “As the PA continues to actively participate in nation building, let us focus on our primary objective as the protector of the people and the state.

"We should continue to improve on our capabilities to best address the challenges that come across in our peace building effort under the Armed Forces of the Philippines' Internal Peace and Security Plan 'Bayanihan'.

Other awardees included: Benjie Artuz from Barangay Agdahon, Cuartero, Capiz, a criminology Board passer, received the Chief of Staff 3ID Award for graduating number two;

Kenneth Edmun Hilongos from Poblacion 1, Purok Datu Kaka, Cotabato City, a graduate of Associate in Computer Science, received the Commandant 3rd Division Training Unit Award for graduating number three;

Johnry Bryan Villafuerte from Barangay Managupaya, Banate, Iloilo, received the Physical Proficiency Award for obtaining the highest rating in Physical Fitness Test throughout the training. (PNA)
