MANILA, May 18 — The Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board (RTWPB) has approved a P30 wage increase in the form of cost-of-living allowance (COLA) for minimum wage earners in the National Capital Region, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said on Friday.

At the same time, Baldoz said that the P22 COLA granted last year will be integrated into the basic pay.

According to the Labor chief, the P30 COLA will be given in two tranches — P20 upon effectivity of the newest wage order and P10 effective November 1, 2012.

The P30 COLA applies to all minimum earners in the private sector.

The new wage hike brings the minimum wage in the NCR to P446 a day for the non-agriculture sector and P409 a day for the other sectors.

Baldoz said the P10 COLA will be added to the minimum wage, raising it further to P456 and P419, respectively.

Excluded from the increase are household or domestic helpers, persons in the personal service of another, including family drivers, and workers of duly registered Barangay Micro Business Enterprises. (PNA) scs/jmc
