MANILA, May 8 — A male security guard assigned at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal 1 on Tuesday surrendered a black wallet containing some 21,900 Taiwan Dollar and P2,500 he found at the arrival area.

NAIA terminal 1 manager Dante Basanta welcomed the gesture of security guard identified as Geonil Iniisa, 36 years old, married and residing in Malabon and is working with Lanting Security and Watchman Agency.

Basanta said that while on duty at the arrival area, Iniisa noticed a black wallet on the floor near the transfer desk apparently left by a visiting tourist who just arrived on board China Airlines from Taipei.

Basanta said that Iniisa was so worried and immediately surrendered the wallet to the Airport police Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) of NAIA without knowing the content of the said wallet.

Basanta said that Iniisa was shocked when he knew that the wallet he found containing some 21,900 Taiwan dollars (P30,660.00) and some P2,520 money.

"Hindi po sa akin iyong pera, baka maging mahirap ang pagbalik kung inangkin ko iyon." Iniisa said.

Iniisa told the police, the wallet belongs to a certain Kuo Tung Yi, a passenger of China Airlines flight CI 377.

The wallet and the money are now in the custody of the NAIA police for safekeeping while waiting for Mr. Yi to claim his wallet, including the money, or anybody authorized by him to claim in his behalf.

Basanta also noticed that last month, a lady janitress also found demonetized assorted foreign currencies or considered collector’s item (money) at the customs arrival area. (PNA) DCT/OTO/utb
