Coronas purchased Bonifacio Ridge condominium unit at P9.1-M — defense witness

MANILA, May 7 — During the 35th day of the impeachment trial of Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Renato C. Corona on Monday, the defense panel presented a representative of the Fort Bonifacio Development Corp. (FBDC) as the third witness to testify on the Bonifacio Ridge property of the Coronas.

According to the defense, the testimony of Noel Kintanar was intended to show that there was a delay in the delivery of the Bonifacio Ridge condominium unit to the Corona family.

Kintanar told the Senate Impeachment Court that there was a punch list of defects in the Bonifacio Ridge unit as pointed out by Mrs. Cristina Corona, adding that the FBDC had addressed such defects.

He said that the turnover of the property was done sometime in 2006 and Mrs. Corona contested the association dues then.

Kintanar told the court that Mrs. Corona objected to paying the association dues while "deficiencies" in her condominium unit were being repaired.

He said that the purchase price of the absolute sale of the Bonifacio Ridge condominium unit of the Coronas was P9,159,940.

He added that the FBDC agreed to shoulder the association dues contested by Mrs. Corona.

The defense said that the FBDC Ridge unit was declared in Corona's 2010 SALN (statement of assets, liabilities and net worth) and not before.

When Senate President and Impeachment Court Presiding Judge Juan Ponce Enrile asked the defense whether Corona's accountant considered the value of the condominium unit in preparing the SALN, the defense said that Corona was not guided by an accounting expert. (PNA)
