NPA political officer in Caraga region nabbed in Surigao del Sur

LIBERTAD, Butuan City, May 4 – Police arrested on Wednesday one of the political officers of the New People’s Army operating in the Caraga Region in the vicinity of Barangay Daitagon, Lianga, Surigao del Sur.

Caraga Police regional director Chief Supt. Reynaldo S. Rafal identified the suspected New People’s Army official as Teddy Domandan Bager, 47, single who belonged to Front Committee 19-B.

According to Rafal, Bager, alyas "Ka Teddy" and "Franco" was the political instructor and team leader of the CPP/NPA/NDF of the Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda Team.

The Police Regional Office-13 information office report claimed that Bager was arrested by virtue of Warrant of Arrest for rebellion with Criminal Case Number L-2417 issued by Judge Alfredo P. Jalad of Regional Trial Court, Branch 28, 11th Judicial Region in Lianga, Surigao del Sur.

Bager was arrested through joint operation conducted by the personnel of the Lianga Municipal Police Station, headed by the town’s Chief of Police himself, Police Sr. Insp. Ignacio L. Serrano and the 29th IB, Philippine Army headed by 1st Lt. Gerardo S. Joves.

Recovered from Bager's possession were a hand grenade, a Memory Card, five chargers, two battery packs, eight sim packs, three cellular phones and cash amounting to P9,766.

Lianga police said Bager was involved in the failed attack of Lianga Police Station last April 28, 2011, which was successfully repelled by joint Police and Army forces.(PNA) RMA/Ben Serrano/utb
