Navy sets recruitment for more personnel in CV on May 9-12

CEBU CITY, May 4 – The Naval Forces Central (Navforcen) said it will start accepting applications to fill up the needed 200 officers and 1,500 enlisted personnel for this year.

The Navforcen will launch the Visayan mobile recruitment for qualified applicants on May 9 to 12 at the University of Cebu (UC) main campus at the corner of Sanciangko and Juan Luna Sts., Cebu City.

Applicants, though, may start processing their requirements at the Navforcen Personnel Office from May 1 to 8.

The mobile recruitment program will provide opportunity for aspiring youth in Central Visayas to make the processing of their applications more convenient and economical, as they no longer need to go to Manila to apply.

Navforcen information officer Joseph Ison expects they would be able to recruit the needed officers and personnel, citing the increasing number of applicants every year.

“Our number of applicants didn’t decline. Every year, the number of applicants is increasing” Ison said.

The qualifications for both officers and enlisted personnel posts are: the applicants must be a natural born Filipino, of good moral character, single and with no child to support, at least 5 feet tall, must not have any pending civil/criminal case, physically and mentally fit for training; and must pass the Armed Forces of the Philippines aptitude battery test, IQ test, and special written examinations.

For Navy officership, the applicant must be between 21-28 years old and a graduate of a 4-year or 5-year Baccalaureate degree preferably bachelor of science in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, information technology, electronics and communications engineering, computer science, accountancy, marine engineering, maritime transportation, civil engineering and naval architecture.

For the enlisted personnel, the applicants must be 18-23 years old and should have finished at least 72 units in college or a graduate of two-year vocational and associate courses preferably electrical, welding, plumbing, mechanics, electronics and communications, aviation and aircraft maintenance, and heavy equipment operators.

Qualified applicants for officership will undergo the naval officers candidate course (NOCC), while the enlisted personnel will have the basic seamanship course (BSC).PR with Maria Precious Goc-ong, NORSU-G Mass Comm Intern. (PNA) RMA/EB/re
