6 senior PAF officials get promotion

MANILA, April 3 – President Benigno S. Aquino III ordered on Tuesday the promotion of six senior officials of the Philippine Air Force (PAF), including its commander, Maj. Gen. Lauro Catalino G. Dela Cruz, to the next rank.

Lt. Col. Miguel Ernesto Okol, PAF spokesperson, said that with this development, Dela Cruz now has the rank of lieutenant general.

Brig. Gen. Edgardo Rene C. Samonte, commander of the Air Eduction and Training Command based in Lipa City, Batangas, was promoted to major general.

Given their first star (brigadier general) by the President were: Col. Julius Ceasar M. Guillermo, current commander of the 420th Airlift Wing; Col. Salvador Melchor B. Mison Jr., commander of the 220th Airlift Wing; Col. Rolando G. Jungco, adjutant general; and Col. Virgilio A. Hernandez, deputy chief of the Armed Forces Intelligence Service. (PNA) scs/PFN
