MANILA, March 30 – While the rest of the country is busy bonding with their families and commemorating Holy Week, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) spokesperson Col Arnulfo Burgos, Jr., on Friday said that the entire military will be on watch to ensure that nothing untoward will happen during the holidays.

"The AFP will stand on guard during the commemoration and observance of Holy Week and will provide support to Philippine National Police and other law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and stability," he said.

Burgos said that the AFP's surveillance and intelligence gathering missions would focused on populated areas.

The AFP spokesperson also said that they would also deploy troops into people intensive areas like tourist spots and transport centers.

He also said that the National Capital Region Command would also work closely with the Metro Manila Development Authority to closely monitor the traffic situation in the Metropolis.

Burgos said that a quick reactionary force of 500 highly-trained soldiers in AFP headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo are in standby for any possible emergencies.(PNA)
