Venturina was one of three judges. City Treasurer Lito Evangelista was chairman.

Among the participating breeds in colorful attires included Terrier, Pomeranian, Golden Retriever, Shifzu, Chihuahua and even local canines known as “askal”.

Some dog owners wore almost similar outfit with those of their pets.

There are dogs, especially the "askals", tried some tricks to the enjoyment of the big audience.

City administrator Rodolfo de Mesa said the event will serve as eye opener in the proper care of dogs.

"The dog fashion show is being held not only to give enjoyment but to heighten awareness on the proper ways to take care our pets," he said.

De Mesa said per directive of Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III, an ordinance prohibiting stray dogs on the streets will be strictly implemented.

The administrator also urged dog owners to avail of the free anti-rabies vaccination for their pets. (PNA)
